Genesis Marks the Spot Trailer

Welcome to Genesis Marks the Spot where we intend to raid the ivory tower of biblical theology without ransacking our faith. My name is Carey and throughout my podcast, I am going to be discussing the three terrors of biblical theology: context, resources, and critical thinking. My goal is to be working to connect the average Bible student to study tools and resources, but I don’t want to leave it at that. I want to introduce you to ideas you may not have previously considered in your Bible reading. This will all be under the umbrella of looking at the Bible as the Word of God. The fact is, there are many interpretations and views which take a high view of Scripture seriously. My goal is not to tear down any existing legitimate interpretations but rather to look at what the text—and context—of the Bible can support. The purpose of this is to expand our thinking and to provide ways we can discuss the Bible with others, potentially with those who are outside our normal denominational pockets. We want to appreciate the fact that the body of Christ doesn’t all think the same way and that we can, in fact, learn from each other and also from some pretty surprising sources. We will be starting out grounded in the book of Genesis, but Genesis has far-reaching connections through the Bible and so we will soon find that we are expanding our horizons throughout the rest of Scripture, as well.
